THE SAWMILL MONTHLY DRILL

One Drill. One Standard. Every Month.

Each month, The Sawmill releases a new firearms drill designed to test a specific combination of speed, accuracy, movement, weapon manipulation, or decision-making.

The drill is published here and featured in the Sawmill newsletter at the beginning of each month. Come out, put yourself to the test, record your score, then come back and try to beat it.

Whether you're training for competition, sharpening your fundamentals, or simply looking for a measurable way to track your progress, the Sawmill Monthly Drill gives you a new standard to chase every month.

THE RULES

You can run the Monthly Drill as many times as you'd like throughout the month.

There is no limit on practice attempts or official attempts. Train it, refine your strategy, and keep coming back to improve your score.

For a score to be considered official:

  • The drill must be completed at The Sawmill Training Complex.

  • The attempt must be witnessed by a Sawmill staff member.

  • The drill must be completed exactly as published for that month.

  • All hits, penalties and final times must be verified by Sawmill staff.

  • Shooters are responsible for following all Sawmill range and firearm safety rules at all times.

  • Unsafe firearm handling will immediately end the attempt.

  • Sawmill staff have final authority regarding scoring, penalties and validation.

Unofficial practice attempts are encouraged, but only validated attempts will be recorded.

Course of Fire:

Plate Rack + Star

Location: Range 4
Distance: 10 meters
Minimum Round Count: 12 hits
Holster: IWB only

  1. Course of Fire

    Shooter begins holstered, facing downrange.

    On the buzzer:

    1. Engage one plate on either the plate rack or texas star.

    2. Transition to the opposite target

    3. Continue alternating between the plate rack and star until all required plates are down and the star is complete.

    Scoring

    Fastest time wins.

    The drill may be attempted as many times as you want throughout the month; however, an official score must be completed at The Sawmill and witnessed by Sawmill staff to be validated.

    All standard Sawmill range and safety rules apply.
